Welcome to the cyber-resident area of my thoughts. A place used to extend my consciousness into the virtual and store links I find interesting, thoughts I find provoking and software I endeavour to create.
The theme is Artificial Intelligence with the principle notions being:
• We must take inspiration from nature but not copy it directly.
• AI must build on the foundations laid down by Artificial Life.
• We must take the risk that we may build an entity that we can’t recognise as intelligent but will never the less be autonomous and conscious.
• It must be adaptive and general purpose.
Purpose: I’ve been hanging around the field of AI for quite a while and thought it’s about time I off-boarded part of my being into the web.
Reasoning: I’ve witnessed ideas come and go ranging from the popularities of neural networks, explorations into the virtual world of artificial life forms, seen adaptive assembler code (in the form of viruses) do magical dances in RAM, manipulated cortically representative cognitive models and followed one man’s attempt to create a robotic orang-utan (fantastic effort by the way).
Through all of these approaches we are still missing the ability to create a generic agent capable of contextually adaptive learning mechanisms.
For my part I’m looking / researching for the way to achieve this.
